"Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end."

Kila R. Carrier, MSW, LCSW

I am glad you're here.

The first thing I want you to know about me is that I am deeply passionate about helping couples move through defining relationship moments with clarity. It’s a privilege to support couples as they navigate the most important seasons of their relationship.

I specialize in working with couples facing challenges such as infidelity, major transitions, communication breakdowns, and stay‑or‑go decisions. My approach is warm, direct, and structured.

My role is to guide you through that process with steadiness, compassion, and practical tools you can use right away. If you and your partner are ready to put in the work, I’m here to support you. I look forward to working with you.

Professional Credentials and Background

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving clients in California  (#CA79748), Minnesota (#33199), and North Carolina (#C015659). I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and I completed my postgraduate training at Travis Air Force Base with the United States Air Force.  I also hold a Certificate in Sex Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies. I have over 7 years of experience in crisis intervention and suicide prevention, which deepens my ability to support couples through high-stress transitions and emotionally charged moments.

Couples I Work Best With

I enjoy working with couples who are ready for change and willing to sit in some discomfort because that’s often where the most meaningful shifts happen. I’m focused on helping you create real movement rather than spending months in therapy without direction.

I believe therapy should be intentional and time‑limited. Each session is tailored to your unique needs and relationship dynamics, never a one‑size‑fits‑all model. You can expect a safe, affirming space where honesty is welcomed, accountability is encouraged, and growth is possible.

My clinical approach is integrative and grounded in evidence‑based methods, including Gottman Method (Level 3), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, discernment counseling, and Solution‑Focused therapy. These frameworks help us understand what’s happening beneath the surface, strengthen communication, and create a clearer path forward — whether that means rebuilding, redefining, or making a thoughtful decision about the future of your relationship.

Areas of Focus:

  • Couples in transition
  • Communication and reconnection
  • Infidelity recovery
  • Pre‑marital and commitment readiness

I know, somewhere in the future, there’s a better version of me brandishing a smile and saying “I knew everything would work out."
